The end of BuddyBate
Guys, I don’t know what to tell you. For over 6 years now I have enjoyed sharing a love of self pleasure and mutual masturbation with thousands of members, visitors to the blog and the forum. We’ve been through a lot of crap in that time, from the chaotic end of the social network and having to migrate to a new server, to teaming up with BlokeToys, to interviewing Andy Lee, to creating the blog…
I’ve had a lot of fun in the last 6 years, I’ve met some great guys, new friends I’m still in touch with and meet up with regularly. I know so many of you here and potentially reading this have found lots of great new mates through the site too. Those who might not have found any new friends in person have certainly made connections out there on the Internet and had a lot of fun reading the experiences of others and sharing your thoughts, desires and pleasures.
Unfortunately, I’ve been forced into the position of reassessing how valuable this site is, and whether I can continue to deliver without getting anything back in return. You see, it costs money to run a site, it takes effort to gather content and encourage people to be engaged, and it’s becoming exhausting. Every day I come here and I check out the blog, add posts or check for submissions, and nothing changes. I wade through a thousand spam comments from Chinese and Russian bots every day seeking out that one little gem of genuine Humanity making a comment on a post, and they’re so rare now that it makes me wonder if there is anyone out there at all.
We’ve had some great readers and members who routinely come back, members who have submitted incredible fiction, great posts about their experiences, and then most of you do nothing at all, you don’t show them any appreciation for those sharing their thoughts or taking the time to write that 1000 word fiction you just enjoyed. How hard would it be to just write “thanks!” at the bottom of a post? How hard would it be for you to share that post on Twitter or Tumblr?
I don’t mean to sound rude, but it seems most people don’t understand that it costs money and takes time and effort to do all of this, and it costs you nothing to be engaged and offer some support to those who work so hard to try to entertain or inform.
Because of all of this, and because this site is constantly under attack from Russian spammers and increasing the costs of hosting, I have been forced to consider shutting it all down and moving on. It might be that the forum is shut down and I carry on with the blog (probably with far less posting), or it might be that I let the domain die on its own and just never bother with it again. Something needs to change in order for me to consider this site a worthy investment of my time and money, and the time and effort of those very few members who actually contribute.
The next month or so is going to be a watershed for me. If things pick up and readers actually start responding, being engaged, sharing content and submitting their own (or buying from a sponsor site, or from BlokeToys etc, thereby supporting BuddyBate too) then I can reconsider. Sadly, I don’t see that happening. We have a very limited audience here, and it seems this audience is mute.
It’s up to you guys.
More news to come in the next month.
This is my first comment. I’m sorry. I never thought about it like this before and I think we all just forget that there are people behind sites like this. I guess it’s one of those things like “someone else will do it”.
I promise that I will write comments at least. I did think about writing an experience to post on the blog but my writing is not great.
Thanks for commenting.
You can submit anything to the blog through the contact page and I will edit or check for spelling etc. I hope you’ll consider contributing.
Glad you’re keeping things going now. I love this site and the experiences other guys share.
I have one on the way to you now.
Guilty as charged :'(
I will make an effort to be more active. I know how hard it is to work on a site and get no recognition for it. I had a blog a couple of years ago that was getting a thousand visits a day and maybe one comment a week. I gave up after a year.
It’s depressing that I didn’t even realize that I was one of those people.
Thanks Trader. I’ve had a few sites over the years and been involved with some others and the story is similar. Blogging seems to be dead, replaced by nothing more than liking and reposting on sites like Tumblr. It’s sad, there almost nothing original on there, it’s all the same shit reposted by a thousand other people. I might have to start doing that if I give up on BuddyBate.
Pls dont let the site die!
The experiences are the best and I want more!
Rest assured I’m keeping things going for now 🙂
Def glad you kept things going. We need more experiences from members on the blog though.
