What do I get?
Age-verified users have unrestricted access to adult media in posts across the site. This includes photos and videos in published posts, images within personal ads, and forum posts. This also allows you to view profiles of other users, avatars and direct messaging via the forum.
Why is this necessary?
In June 2025 the UK’s Online Safety Bill came into effect, which requires restriction of adult visual media.
What file should I upload?
We accept photos of recognized government issued identification, such as a passport, driver’s license or voter ID. We also accept face selfies which can prove you are of age. We use open-source image analysis to confirm the validity of any photo, but submitting a photo of yourself holding a page with “BuddyBate” written on it will make this process easier and quicker.
Is my data safe?
We do not retain images submitted for this process on any internet-connected device. All identifiable data is removed from the server once confirmation has been completed.
Does this process grant me access to other sites?
At this time user-age-check is for BuddyBate only, but we may expand this process to other websites in our network in the future.
Is my data shared with anyone?
No. We do not share submitted user data with any outside company or website. Please refer to our Privacy Policy for more information.
