Hi Louis. We don’t allow the publication of email addresses due to privacy concerns and GDPR laws. We do, however, allow the posting of links to social media accounts such as Tumblr, NewTumbl, Reddit, Twitter, KIK usernames etc (basically any social account other than Facebook as we deem that company a threat to our users) You really just need an account somewhere so that other readers can message you directly. Thank you for the clarification. It does help but then it doesn’t. I am married and if I suddenly had a new social media account show up it would raise concerns at home. I would like to try meeting a couple of the people that I responded to but I do not know how to set up an account without raising suspicions. Any help or ideas there would be great. I have an additional question and request for you. If you do not publish email addresses, even to the private party I would be contacting, why do you require an email to join?> Confusing. Also, would it be possible to send my ‘reply’ too the person(s) I replied to WITHOUT my email attached? We could reply to each other here on this forum and set up a meeting place and future communication opportunities that way without getting into emails, phone #’s, etc.

It’s an automatic action of the form to request email addressees as they are generally intended for website visitors to contact the webmaster. However, it’s also useful if we need to contact you about your submission. When posting comments or replying to others it’s an inbuilt function of the platform to require an email so that commenters can receive alerts when someone has replied or another reader has commented on a post they also commented on.
In general, the rule is that email addresses cannot be publicly seen on a webpage. This isn’t just because of GDPR law or because we can’t be certain it belongs to you, it’s also generally considered pointless because within a week of it being visible it would have been found by several spam crawlers and the account would become inundated with useless email to the point that you’ll likely miss any genuine attempts to contact you.
It’s a difficult situation, but without a social media account where others can reach you I’m not sure what can be done.
Obviously, any plans you make on here for venue or date to meet someone etc will be publicly visible and I very much doubt many others would be willing to do that.
I’m sorry I can’t be of more help, but with GDPR law the way it is there’s really no option of us publicly publishing email addresses.
