What lube is the best for long wanks?

I’m 27 and I never edged before but I’m trying to get into it and make my wanks last a lot longer. I’ve never wanked with anyone else either and although it’s something I want to try in the future I want to make sure I can last longer and I think learning about edging and stuff like that will help.

Right now I probably wank three or four times a week and it’s mostly just for five or ten minutes while I’m watching a porn video. My girlfriend likes to wank me off too but she just uses vaseline and it doesn’t do much for me.

Edging can be a challenge but what you seem to be going for is just more stamina and pleasure, you’re right to look at various lubes to help with that. I’m guessing you’re in the UK and that probably means you’re uncut too. It seems uncut guys use lube a lot less than our American counterparts and it’s predominantly because the foreskin retains a lot of pre to make a wank easier. For that reason alone a lot of uncut guys never discover how much fun lube can be and how much more pleasure it can provide.

There are all kinds of lubes out there but the three main categories are water based, silicone based and oil based. Water based lubes are the most common and although they dry up more quickly than the other two they can be used with all toys without worrying about how they’re going to interact.

Silicone lubes last longer and can be a lot slicker and give you a closer feel, but they also can’t be used with most toys or condoms because the silicone can weaken the materials.

Oil based lubes are basically just for masturbation/massage. You probably shouldn’t use oil based products with anything from toys to condoms and even for penetration as it can create a breeding ground for bacteria.

If you’re just going for manual masturbation you can take your pick from any of them, but silicone and oil based lubes will usually offer the most sensation.

We’ve talked about several different ones on the blog over the years but Stroke 29 is still one of our faves. Astroglide is also one of the most popular brands out there and they again offer various formulations for different uses. I would certainly recommend them as a good brand to try.

Unfortunately, while a lot of guys swear by ID Glide I personally find it sticky and tacky and not pleasant at all. Maybe I just got a bad batch when I first tried it but I found the bottle in my drawer ten years later having hardly looked at it, preferring to use all various other lubes instead.
